Airbnb turnover laundry checklist: departure to ready beds

Follow a printable laundry checklist covering booking checks, collection, sorting, permitted washing, drying, inspection and the final arrival-readiness handoff.

Use this resource

Start with the confirmed checkout, next arrival deadline, beds needed and guest count. Collect and count used linen, follow each item’s permitted washing and drying route, inspect returned items, prepare the beds and towels, then sign off actual readiness. A started wash or expected delivery is not confirmed clean stock.

1. Confirm the stay and preparation deadline

Record checkout, the next check-in, the time linen must be ready, beds required and the confirmed guest count. Airbnb notes that availability blocks can have several causes, so check reservations rather than treating every calendar event as a guest stay. Allow time for inspection and bed preparation after laundry finishes.

  • Confirm arrival and checkout details.
  • Resolve unknown guest or bed requirements.
  • Check current clean stock by category and size.
  • Identify the person who will approve readiness.

2. Collect, count and sort before starting

Keep used linen separate from the clean items waiting for the next setup. Count outgoing pieces and record stains or damage before dispatch. Start laundry early enough for the agreed process; Airbnb’s cleaning guidance supports allowing adequate time between guests, including backup arrangements when needed.

  • Count sheets, covers, pillowcases and towel types.
  • Record supplier collection quantities if using a service.
  • Read item labels and treatment-product directions.
  • Separate loads requiring different care.

3. Wash and dry by the item and appliance instructions

Match the finished item’s label with the exact programme and its load allowance. GINETEX explains that temperature and treatment restrictions are separate instructions; a wash permission does not grant tumble-drying permission. Do not publish one temperature or duration as suitable for every turnover textile.

  • Check the complete dry load and loose loading.
  • Use the permitted dose for the actual detergent.
  • Record dispatch or the actual wash start.
  • Follow the permitted drying method and inspect thick areas.

4. Inspect, prepare and reconcile

Confirm the actual return quantity and condition before moving items to clean stock. Re-make the required beds, place the agreed towels and retain any protected reserve. Reconcile shortages, rejected items and missing pieces. If a return is late, establish a usable alternative rather than marking the job complete because it was scheduled.

  • Check dryness, stains, seams and completeness.
  • Record actual supplier receipts and discrepancies.
  • Prepare the agreed beds and guest towels.
  • Put remaining clean stock in the correct size/type location.

5. Sign off readiness or escalate a specific gap

Write the readiness time, reviewer and any unresolved category/size shortage. For example, laundry due Wednesday at 18:00 cannot support a 14:00 preparation deadline that day. Either confirm another source of usable stock or escalate before that deadline. Keep the expected return visible for later, but do not let it stand in for today’s physical readiness.

Using the checklist or worksheet

Can a cleaner mark linen ready when the dryer starts?

No. Readiness needs the permitted process to finish, complete dryness and condition checks, the actual required quantities and preparation before the deadline.

Does WashSage automatically sync my calendar?

Current booking support is manual entry and reviewed CSV/iCal file snapshots. Private feed URL syncing and recurring-series expansion are unavailable; check current reservation records before importing.

Stock examples use stated policies and hypothetical counts. Check your own physical inventory, confirmed booking needs and preparation deadlines; expected laundry stays separate until received and inspected. Report a correction with the page and supporting source.
