Good bedding care starts with two separate checks: the product measurements you need for a fit and the finished care instructions you need for cleaning. Match covers to inserts, include depth when choosing fitted sheets, and confirm both washing and drying arrangements before cleaning filled bedding.
Choose bedding by dimensions
King, queen and double names vary across countries and product ranges. Compare width and length for the same item type using the exact listing. A mattress footprint is not a duvet-cover or flat-sheet dimension. Dunelm, Sheridan, Casper and The Company Store provide named reference tables; the converter keeps those categories separate.
- Match a duvet cover to the filled insert’s measurements.
- Check mattress width, length and total depth for fitted sheets.
- Compare a flat sheet’s actual dimensions with your intended tuck or drop.
- Use custom dimensions when your product is outside a reference range.

Check the filled item before washing
Read the insert’s label separately from the removable cover. Filling alone cannot establish permission: Sheridan specifies dry cleaning for relevant feather-and-down quilts, while a named Company Store down comforter permits machine washing and prohibits dry cleaning. Those instructions describe different products.
Once washing is permitted, check the exact machine’s programme limit, the dry mass and the required room to move. Closing a packed drum door does not settle the loading question.

Plan how you will finish drying
Confirm the allowed method and heat restrictions before the bedding becomes wet. The dryer has its own programme and load requirements; natural drying may require specific support. Inspect thick areas and filling before storage rather than relying only on the shell. The drying planner supplies method checks and qualitative conditions without inventing a universal number of hours.
