As an illustrative starting load, four bath towels plus two hand towels total about 3.4 kg using Bosch’s historical 700 g and 300 g example weights. This is a planning example, not a guaranteed count for an 8 kg washer. Weigh your own dry towels, check the selected programme allowance and leave the loading space its manual requires.

Weigh a towel bundle without the basket
The 3.4 kg example matches four 700 g bath towels plus two 300 g hand towels. Replace those historical reference weights with your actual dry bundle.
Start with the towels you actually own
Try counting four bath towels and two hand towels as a small mixed-towel example, then weigh that actual dry bundle. The reference arithmetic is 4 × 700 g + 2 × 300 g = 3,400 g. Your towels may be larger, thicker or lighter.
For an 8 kg machine, first identify the programme you will use and its permitted dry load. If that allowance is 4 kg, the 3.4 kg reference example is below it by 0.6 kg. It still needs compatible item care and the required drum space.
| Illustrative bundle | Reference dry total | Against a hypothetical 4 kg allowance |
|---|---|---|
| 4 bath + 2 hand towels | 3.4 kg | 0.6 kg below; space and care still need checking |
| 6 bath + 2 hand towels | 4.8 kg | 0.8 kg over |
| 8 bath + 2 hand towels | 6.2 kg | 2.2 kg over |

A towel calculation you can check yourself
Bosch’s historical manual lists 700 g for a terry bath towel and 300 g for a terry hand towel. Using those identified examples, four bath towels contribute 4 × 700 g = 2,800 g. Two hand towels contribute 2 × 300 g = 600 g. Together that is 3,400 g, or 3.4 kg.
Those values do not describe every towel. If your measured bath towels weigh 850 g each and your hand towels weigh 250 g each, the same count totals (4 × 850) + (2 × 250) = 3,900 g, or 3.9 kg. The extra 0.5 kg comes from the products, even though the towel count has not changed.

Turn the weight into a loading decision
Find a programme compatible with all the towel labels and check its allowance in the exact appliance manual. Compare the complete dry total with that allowance. Samsung’s cycle information distinguishes programme limits, while its loading advice calls for loosely arranged laundry.
If the weight exceeds the programme limit, remove towels and recalculate. If the weight is within the limit, check the required drum arrangement as a separate step. Do not force down an extra towel because the arithmetic leaves a small allowance.
- Confirm a compatible care treatment for every towel.
- Record the dry load, including small items.
- Use the selected programme’s confirmed limit.
- Follow the model’s instructions for loading and distribution.

Why dividing capacity by one towel weight falls short
Dividing 8 kg by an example towel mass produces a mathematical count. It does not check programme restrictions, fabric care or the space the towels occupy. Whirlpool also qualifies its approximate towel counts by model and conditions. Keep these counts as orientation, not as a household instruction.
A mixed load needs the same care: sheets or clothing added to towels still contribute weight and may require a different treatment. The convenience of washing them together cannot replace those checks.

Save a repeat load, including the drying route
Once you have measured a suitable group, record it precisely: for example, “four blue bath towels plus two matching hand towels, dry total 3.9 kg”. Add the programme and model. Recheck the record when changing towels or adding items.
If you plan to tumble dry the whole group, check the towels’ drying permission and the dryer’s own programme allowance. A washer-dryer may require a smaller load for the drying stage. Plan any split before starting, rather than assuming that a load accepted for washing can continue unchanged.

An explicit 8kg-washer example: eight towels are not an approval
Six 700 g bath towels and two 300 g hand towels total 4.8 kg using Bosch’s historical example masses. On a hypothetical suitable programme limited to 4 kg, that is 0.8 kg too much. Four of those bath towels plus two hand towels total 3.4 kg. Check your own towel weights and the required loading space before using either count.

Keep a measurement you can check next time
Record the exact product, date, measuring method and actual reading. Keep a label photograph and the relevant manual page with it. A measured dry weight or dimension is useful evidence for your own item; a wash or fit result needs its own observation.

Can I wash towels and sheets together?
Only when their care instructions and the appliance instructions permit the combined treatment and load. Add the dry mass of all items and check the drum arrangement. A low total alone does not resolve differences in fabric care.
